The October Glory Maple (Acer rubrum 'October Glory') is a stunning ornamental tree that is known for its vibrant fall foliage. In autumn, its leaves transform into a dazzling display of fiery reds, oranges, and yellows, making it a true showstopper in the landscape. Glistening dark green leaves in spring, summer turn radiant red late fall and last several weeks. Tiny, conspicuous red flowers bloom in spring. This adaptable tree is also fast-growing and tolerant of many soils, but prefers slightly acid and moist conditions.
In addition to its ornamental value, the October Glory Maple also provides valuable wildlife habitat. Its flowers, which bloom in early spring, are a nectar source for a variety of pollinators, such as bees and butterflies. Its seeds also provide food for birds and small mammals. Showy red fruit attract many birds and other wildlife. The leaves of the October Glory Maple have also been used as a traditional medicine by Native Americans.
