The Empire apple is a popular variety for both fresh eating and baking. It is a cross between the McIntosh and Red Delicious apples, and it has inherited the best qualities of both parents. Empire apples are large and round, with a deep red color and a crisp, juicy texture. They have a sweet-tart flavor that is perfect for eating fresh or using in pies, cakes, and other baked goods. Empire apples are a good source of fiber and vitamin C.
