Sluggo – Slug & Snail Bait (Iron Phosphate-Based)

Overview:
Sluggo is an OMRI-listed, pet-safe slug and snail bait used to protect edible and ornamental plants from mollusk damage. It contains iron phosphate, a naturally occurring compound that is lethal to slugs and snails but non-toxic to pets, humans, birds, earthworms, and other wildlife when used as directed. It’s rain-resistant and breaks down into soil nutrients.

Key Characteristics

  • Targets Slugs & Snails Safely
Sluggo disrupts feeding behavior immediately. Once ingested, pests stop feeding and die within 3–6 days, reducing damage to leafy greens, strawberries, young seedlings, and ornamental foliage.
  • OMRI-Listed for Organic Use
Approved for certified organic production. Ideal for use in food forests, permaculture systems, home gardens, and commercial operations where natural pest control is essential.
  • Active Ingredient: Iron Phosphate
This naturally occurring substance is safe for use around wildlife, pets, and beneficial insects. Once in the soil, it degrades into a nutrient plants can use.
  • Long-Lasting and Weather-Resistant
Rainfast formula provides protection for up to 2 weeks. Does not create a harmful buildup in the soil and remains effective in moist environments—perfect for use around mulch, vegetable beds, and compost-rich areas.
  • Flexible Application Timing
Can be used at planting time or whenever slug pressure is noticed. Works especially well when applied in the evening or after watering, when slugs are most active.

Tips for Garden Success

For best results, scatter Sluggo evenly around the base of susceptible plants and in moist, shady areas where slugs tend to hide. Reapply as necessary, especially during rainy periods or when slug populations are high. Consider integrating with other ecological slug control techniques such as habitat management, duck foraging in orchards, and reducing mulch thickness near plant crowns during peak slug season.
